Why a 7×12 Over a 7×14 or 7×16?
The 12-foot length is the residential-friendly choice. Pulls into standard driveways, parks in suburban side yards, navigates 90-degree turns in residential streets without trailer-tire scrub. For most landscape and snow removal jobs (under 2 yards of material per cycle), the 12-foot bed is plenty. The 7×14 and 7×16 variants make sense only when you regularly haul long-format material (irrigation pipe, fencing, sheet goods) or need 11,000+ lb capacity per cycle.
What Can You Haul?
- 1.5-2 yards of crushed stone (well within payload, easy to spread evenly across the 12-ft bed)
- 3-4 yards of mulch or topsoil
- A loaded skid steer (Bobcat S70 = 4,400 lb) with 2 attachments
- Snow and ice-melt for plow operations
- Demolition debris from a residential bathroom or kitchen

Frequently Asked Questions
Same axles and lift as the 14LP-14 and 14LP-16?
Yes. The 7×12, 7×14, and 7×16 variants of Big Tex 14LP all share dual 7,000 lb Dexter axles, the same scissor lift, and the same 10-gauge sides and floor. Only deck length differs.
Will my F-250 tow this fully loaded?
14,000 lb GVWR is well within F-250 conventional tow ratings (typically 18,000-20,000 lb). Same for Ram 2500 and Silverado 2500HD. F-150 with HD payload package can handle it but you’re closer to the upper limit.
What is the dump angle of the scissor lift?
Big Tex 14LP scissor lift dumps to roughly 55 to 60 degrees, versus 45 degrees on a single-cylinder dump. The higher angle clears wet aggregate, sticky soil, and demolition material in one cycle without operator intervention.
